Get ready...it's time to do some work.
Long story...short. We bought a real "fixer-upper" in mid-December, first did the foundation, followed by the interior, moved in mid- March & finally the siding & landscaping(both still in progress). The house was completely gutted except for 4 interior walls, 2 wood floors & 1 big tub. Friends & family worked numerous hours on this project and we learned a lot. Dan would put in 20 hours a week including Saturdays on top of his full time job, he came before and after work, leaving New London around 4:00 almost every morning. You will see some impressive upgrades completed in a very short time in the middle of winter. We are extremely greatful to God that no major accidents occured & that noone was injured more than soreness & hammered fingernails.
Front door to the house from the inside. The old wood floor was taken out & the new floor is bamboo. This doorway was also expanded.
The front room.
This room saw the second most improvement. The back corner behind the t.v. was sunk in & you could see the foundation. We spend a lot of time in this room. It gets a lot of sunlight & has a good view.
Tessa's room after move in, still needs ceiling fan.
Yup, that's not wall paper, we painted it. The floors were sanded & stained also.
This is the corner of her room where the crib fits the stripes.
Overall, she is very happy with the outcome, she is still waiting for her parents to put up photos of her on the adjacent wall.
The one & only bathroom. Very small, so we had to expand.
Post clean-up, pre-demolition.
Yes, the cast iron tub would be unbearable to try to move. The wall the sink was on was taken down to expand the room & put in a laundry unit. The window was closed in & masonite board was put up & "waynes coating" up to mid-wall.
Laundry unit & new wall on the right.
New sink area with a pocket door behind (space efficiency).
